Don't like it. It's fixed-width, the banner doesn't look very good. There are nice features like nicer-looking quote thing, but other than that..

I am inclined to agree. I would use Syphon's skin over that one.
ip loves it, you heard him, make it an option soon!
Ach. Deleted a post I meant to edit.
There: threw together a quick forum index page. I considered adding more elements from v4, but then it would be a matter of changing the forums, not the skin.
I've only been using the 'Classic' skin, and have only had glances at any others, so I've no idea to what degree you meant by "mash together a skin resembling a mix of classic v4 and v5's Epic (by Syphon). How is it on the eyes?", but whatever:
The Staredit Network logo is sexy, but I think it'd be better if it weren't "staredit" on top, orbit in middle, "network" on bottom - have the orbit going around the "staredit" maybe, or have it under one and over the other, or something.
The design in general looks bulky. I don't know about people with higher desktop resolutions, but on my 1024x768, I think it'd suck.

Honestly, I think that IP has much better things to do for SEN than making another fixed-width skin, especially when such a duty could be relegated to other members. Just like Syphon made the Epic skin (which I prefer to Jamals by far, the only exception being the shadows), Jamal himself or someone else can do it. IP needs ta' work on other things.
.
Jamal, really, work on that banner if you want to go further. The boxy SS's and the blackness is ugly, and the opacity gradient for your new logo looks bad. I greatly prefer the current SEN banner, which incorporates SC and SCII, which fluidly goes from one to another (though there should be a third image in the middle for those like me). Also, I think for the current skin, the text should be centered horizontally on the banner. It isn't, currently.
The only thing from that banner I like is the planet-thing, but even that makes no sense, as an orbit really shouldn't have three separate planets.
Additionally, the navigation bar takes too much space for no reason. The Epic skin does it much nicer-like, and even has a lightly glossy effect on it.
None.
I think it should be called YFTLOGY by Jamal.
However, I'm down for any sort of a new skin, even if it sucks (which it doesn't).
"Parliamentary inquiry, Mr. Chairman - do we have to call the Gentleman a gentleman if he's not one?"
It isn't (or isn't intended to be) fixed-width. Fluid content is infinitely preferable.
Did some quick work, changed the header a bit and adjusted some positions.
Going in the right direction, methinks?

I liked the blocky banner, but it's good.

AFAIK, IP has refused to give anyone but Moose enough access to do anything more than minor fixes. He has implemented all skins himself (sometimes messing things up in the process
) and does not let anyone do anything.
Again this is what I've been told about how IP does things around here.

I made the HTML and CSS for mine, and he threw it into his templating system. Iceflare did the same thing.

Moose told me otherwise, remarking about how IP implementing (or his templating system implementing) skins made messes that needed to be fixed and some still haven't.
But its a moot point:
IP will not be working on SEN for quite awhile, nor will he allow anyone else to do so. Anyone who thinks otherwise is woefully misinformed.

Yeah, but judging by the last update.....

Indeed. I have doubts about the skin looking as good as it does in Jamal's screenshot once it's implemented.

Jamal, I like it better, and it being fluid-width is nice. However, still, I prefer the current banner (yours will act strange on larger resolutions, for one thing), and the nav bar is better.

lol it looks all "soft" like whoever compared it to the quote thing. makes me feel so safe on the inside!

I could try doing Jamal's skin in HTML and CSS, if that's okay.

I loved the old v4 skin and the box at the bottom telling us everyone who logged in that day.

I like this banner a lot more than the other one. I do, however like the current SEN banner's layout blending larger unit pictures with gameplay screenshots.
I also prefer the spacing between letters in the current logo compared tot he mock-up (though I suppose the "t" in "network" is really the only letter bugging me).

Nice, like it more than the one before. Maybe IP allows users with that skin to choose between some different header-styles?
Please report errors in the Staredit.Network forum.
Okay, did some really light work on it (mainly positioning)... here's a re-cap:
@David: Feel free. I don't plan on making any major changes (unless they're suggested).
None.
I still love it. Implement plz.
