By the way, I attend a Byzantine Catholic parish. It is a very beautiful place.
You don't need to be religious to enjoy the beautiful fruits of religion. I greatly admire Christianity for the powerful cultural legacy it left Europe.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

Yeah, I totally agree. I went to France and Italy a few years back and had the most amazing time seeing all the old cathedrals and churches. I mean hell, the amount of art and architecture that the church funded during the Renaissance alone is stunning.

I just don't like modern-day organized religion.

The more I learn bout Catholicism, the more I come to learn that they are probably the most sane christian denomination. Although Mars Hill definitely gives them a run for their money.

Well after thousands of scandals, wars, popes, human advancement etc., they have matured the most.

Atheism is very a belief.

Since I see no conclusive arguments for or against God(s), I think the default assumption must be that we know nothing.
I agree.

The universe is so immensely huge and the fact that it supports life at all in such an amazing balance is reason enough to think theres something big behind it.

Indeed it is a belief. Just because someone doesn't believe in a god, doesn't mean that the particular someone doesn't believe in anything. I'm basically an Atheist former Agnostic. Instead of worrying if I'm lucky enough to get the right religion out of a thousand I prefer to simply believe we're nothing less and nothing more then living beings being recycled and re used, much like everything else that we know of thus far in the universe.

And personally I find this belief - to constantly be used in an endless spiral - a fine one. I'd prefer to continually be reused and reformed then die and drift uselessly in a utopia. Of course though this is just my faith, and obviously that doesn't mean my belief is any more significant then another.

P.S I loved the way I worded that n_n.

Oh, so then you don't agree. Thinking the chance for life to exist in a universe so immensely huge is so small that there must be something big behind it is a strange leap of logic. My your dilemma is that you don't feel small enough

But the Bible says the first church was started in Jerusalem. The next churches were at Corinth, Ephesus, Phillipi, Galatia, etc. The Roman church was further down the road. Also, do those citations have any proof that Jesus and Peter went to Rome and started a church there? The Bible says PAUL went there, but IIRC it doesn't say Jesus or Peter went there.

And Peter was the leader of the apostles that stayed in Judah, Paul was the one that went to the non-Jewish people. So in that respect Peter was the leader of the churches in Judah.
The Bible is not an infallible source of historical information. Acts of the Apostles contradicts Paul's letter about Paul's own life on occasion. If you are really interested in church history, read Eusebius.

My God is your God, fool. And God didn't write the bible. Men did. This is Calvinism's flaw. It decides man is not a source of theological information, on the Bible. This ignores the fact that the Bible was written by man. The problem with most evangelicals is that they are idiots regarding the bible. They memorize verses but know little of the historical and theological significance. They explain contradictions by ignoring them.

I don't have time to read Acts again and then Paul's undisputed letters to prove you wrong. I know an easier way. In Mark, Jesus goes across the sea of Galilee and then heads south and then enters Judea to get to Jerusalem. In Luke, Jesus goes through Samaria. See the problem? Jesus can't have possibly gone both ways.

Mormonism is very similar Christianity, like catholicism.

And Catholicism, mormonism, and Jehovah's Witnessism (xD) teach and believe far different things than Christianity. If the belief in one God that sent prophets on earth to speak His will is Christianity, then Muslims are Christians. Other than that, there is little in common.
