I would love any feedback that anyone can offer so far, and I will be updating the file and advertising as I begin to work on the map more and more.

Please if you would like to offer feedback, download the map and play the very short first 20 seconds I have so far. I promise I will make frequent updates.

I'd just like some feedback to keep me motivated to stay the course on the map.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Map size: 256 x 256
Player(s): 1
Tileset: Jungle

There will be anywhere from 4-8 spells for each player, I haven't decided yet, but no less than 4 and no more than 8.
There will be four classes to choose from:

Battle Mage: Firebat
Archer: Marine
Warrior: Zealot
Spellcaster: Templar

There will also be two racial abilities, one for each class since 2 are human and 2 are other.

Human: Stimpak
Other (undecided): Special protoss shield (regenerates quickly)

Story: 100% Complete.
Bestiary: 85% Complete.
Terrain: 1% Complete.
Triggers: <1% Complete.
Systems: 0% Complete.
Balancing: 0% Complete.

If there is any other basic information you all would like to know, please let me know, but do not just ask for information, please also leave feedback on the actual map so far, and not just leave criticisms about my post.

The story starts off with a young man coming back from an activity on his birthday. He comes home to his grandmother waiting for him (his parents are dead), and she tells him it is time for his Ascension Ceremony, which is a coming of age ceremony for the people of his home town. (Do you think the name of the town is important?) She tells him to go and visit his father's grave for a little encouragement, perhaps from his father's spirit, before the ceremony. Whilst visiting his father's grave, he is visited by his father's spirit, and while no words are exchanged, an enigmatic phenomena occurs, and the young man evokes the ancient powers of his family tree which have been passed down through generations. He (will) then awake the next morning after the ceremony...

I write stories as I make the map, which may not be the best option but it is my option, so that is what I have so far. Any feedback on the story, triggers, or terrain would be highly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you all, taking criticism, learning, and creating. :)

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

For this topic to stay open, we need to see screenshots. I know you included the map and say you can't take screenshots, but seeing what it looks like before we download/play it will affect how many downloads you will get. Why can't you take screenshots anyway?

And you may want to organize your first post a bit more, since only half of it is actual information about the map.

I will try to get some screenshots together tonight after work if the topic is still open by then. Like I said though, there isn't much done and not much information to give about the map thus far.

OVERWATCH STATUS GO

By information, I mean more like trivial things that you expect to accomplish with this map. How many players can play at the same time? What are the names of the characters they can play as, or are they generic roles? Stuff like that.

I don't really see how that stuff is imperative, but regardless I've listed just about all information possible about the map so far. It is a single player RPG. Like I said, when I make maps I make them as I go and don't plan hardly anything out, and although I believe this contributes to my never finishing a map, I am always satisfied with what I do finish. I was hoping to recieve feedback on the map and not on this thread that I created, in order to help keep me going on the map, but I'm not going to get that it seems.

Just played up until the four ghosts.

Some criticism:
You should rename the buildings at the top right. I assume they are for casting or inventory-type things.
The villager you get has 40 hp. Though it's not a big deal, I would just make him invincible.
The villagers are all unallied to you, which might not seem like a big deal, but I always assume friendly towns/villages are allied. So, I suppose unless it's for some sort of game system, I would have them ally the players.
The bridge you cross to get to get to the character's father's grave is a little blocky. I can see some water.
I went up to the Warrior spirit and my civilian died instantly - I don't know if that's intended. I didn't get any dialogue upon entering the room.
Also, the village doesn't have any buildings, so it seems more like a group of civilians standing around than a village (they're called villagers, aren't they?).

Overall, looks like a good start. The music is relaxing and seems fitting. I hope to see more development on this map. :)

I appreciate your attention to detail! The 40 hp and the building thing is no biggie just havent gotten to it yet, but I will do that tonight.

The bridge, I might just work on that later or ignore it, i think it looks ok other than that, but terrain is not my strong suit.

The death of the civilian at the grave is meant to happen, just that the next trigger isn't set yet. (I am a bit of a slow worker, but I have been spending a good deal of time on it, so it should start looking and playing better quite soon.)

And finally, for the village, I was thinking that I need to put buildings also but I can't decide if I want to use doodads or buildings! I suppose I will end up using buildings, but I think I will probably add that stuff down the road.

Thanks a lot for taking time to look and respond. I'm going to start working on it now for the next 2 hours, I will probably make an update tonight. That is all. :D

Small update made to map: 12:22AM

Oh, I forgot one more thing.
When you're in the game lobby, the map name says Untitled Scenario. Should probably fix that :P

I'm sorry about this.. but I don't feel like I can offer much since I personally detest single player maps! :(
However the terrain is sick dude.. And the intro I like a lot so far, it's not as long as I expected it to be, which is a good thing. I dunno.. I can't really offer many suggestions.. er.. keep up the good work and start working on it a lot so you can get to the deadline for the rpg contest!

Some basic Map stats would be appreciated.
Basic plot line, Map size, trigger amount (so far, and expected finish), Spells (if any), Minor Bestiary Excerpt (Some creatures inside your map that one would be fighting), Hero Classes (or whatever).
Also, from what I've read, you don't seem very confident in yourself. It'd be very good if you were write a small section near the bottom of your post that lists what you've worked hard in, and what you're very proud of in the map. This will give you some motivation, confidence, and allow people to recognize the hard work you've put in (So far).

Sorry if this offends, but you don't seem to pay attention to what I'm posting. I keep saying that I don't have much developed and that I will add information as it comes. Almost all of the things you listed in your first sentence I already explained that I don't have yet. If you have a problem with my lack of information, please feel free to not respond to the topic. I don't feel that I am being rude, I have already stated this a couple of times and I don't want to hear it over and over again.

I do feel confident, I just don't tend to finish projects because I get bored, the point of this topic is to help me keep motivated by recieving feedback on what I've done SO FAR. I DO NOT PLAN OUT AS MUCH, THAT IS JUST MY STYLE. (to reiterate yet again) The last two sentences of your post are helpful though, and I will do that as more is to come.

Basically, please respect my topic and me by reading what I have to say instead of looking at my post and not seeing all of the information that you want and then criticizing only that. If you don't think I have enough information then you can say that, but first understand what I am trying to say which is that I don't plan my maps in advance, that I make things up as I go along, and that I haven't had a chance to do as much on the map yet.

I realize this is probably not the way people usually post in this section (map production) but realize that I have a different style, and that the information will come WHEN I have it. It really frustrates me because I feel like you didn't read my original post at all, but simply criticized the fact that there wasn't a lot of information, which you would understand if you paid me the attention I deserve. If you don't think so, then please don't respond.

Lol, I know. I don't mean to say you need to post that stuff like RIGHT NOW. But, when you have more information, this is typically the stuff that people put in. (I was trying to guide and give you a small format for you to post the information you get. (Seeing as you're not totally accustomed to posting here.)
Heh, don't worry, it may be 2:57 AM here for me, but I still try to pay attention to what people say.

Edit - Second Edit, Adding More Info.
=================================================
If you expected criticisms for now, I don't have anything to criticize, except the lack of comments. That's an ugly batch of triggers, and you need to use comments. You WILL kill yourself later if you do not use them.

Btw, most maps I've seen posted on this forum for more motivation to finish never get finished. (Being a realist, not a negative person)

----
The music was cool (fix the pauses inbetween loops) , fix your bridge terrain, it is rather blocky, and I think that the best way for you to finish this is a chronological process, with the systems first. You may have a higher chance of finishing this if you do so. All 5 minutes of it looked rather professional.

Look, I'm just trying to help you out here. As a moderator of this forum, I see a lot of map production threads made with very little information to make the map attractive, and consequently no one plays the map. The threads here are usually made to inform the community of a map being created, and also to sell the community on the idea of the map so that it can be played and throughly tested. Because of this, we have the rules and guidelines set up so everyone makes their threads look good and sell the hell out of the map in production.

And like I said earlier, the information we want to see is what you're expecting to create. I understand you're figuring it out as you go along, but we still need something to see. I like what you added already, hence why this thread is still open. Thanks for adding that stuff. :)

Just a little confused and feel free to not answer this because you probably didn't plan this quite yet but for "Ascension RPG" you should be able to decide to be a king or a fighter... by which i mean you can either decide to put you stat points in fighting or into your army which either you or a computer controls... To balance things out you should have different training rooms such as controlled monsters and dummy, archer targets which do not harm the player but gives little exp or cost cash, ect... or cannot be used at a certain level.

The king thing can be a little mini game in which you either try to kill the current king or nobles so you can hire stronger people... or even buy you way out.
