I didn't really like Red Faction 1 too much. There entire technology which they marketed (Blow up anything!) was a bunch of crap since as soon as you got through the first quarter of the game nothing could be blown up. Hendrix, who I could've sworn was a clone of Jimmi never played guitar once, and it only had two boss stages (well, three if you count that dumb droid thing) The first one being easy as fuck and the second one being easier.
I'm a conservationist whore, I like to stock my weapons (particularly explosives) so I basically killed the only awesome character in the game in two hits. I was pretty pissed, because the game felt incomplete and short, I thought I was only halfway through it. I mean, what type of main villain is a mercenary? Are they fucking seriously telling me that a mercenary is more evil then the executives?
It's also unrealistic because I doubt Earth would give a shit about them being over worked, if that was true then we'd probably stop most companies that pay people in pennies. The main character also happens to have my mothers maiden name (parker) so the game was almost laughing at me, then again...I got to work with Jimmi Hendrix so I guess it was worth it.
Two was all right, except Red Faction two pulled the same bull shit as the first game. "BLOW UP ANYTHING!" Except now it was far worse, now you could only blow up one or two walls in the first and second level.
They also pulled their bullshit twist of having two antagonists (just like in the first one) First it starts you against this awesome dictator, then your dick of a leader. (*Which I wanted to kill anyway*)
As usual though they fucked up, making me kill the only characters I like, or them killing the characters I like. Like Quill, Shriek, and for fuck sakes, those bastards killed Echo! and dammit, I didn't like Tangier too much, so that's another thing.
and then finally, Guerilla came out...which sadly turns out to have an even less likeable character then the last two, but aw well, you can finally destroy everything three games later, and it's always fun to kill hard working men just doing their jobs
Of course though if Red Faction wanted to be any less subtle who their villain is based off of they should've just made the game in world war two.
