So I accidentally left my iPod in my pocket, and it just so happens that it went through the washing machine.

Model

I've looked around ipodwizard.net/, and couldn't find anything.

Help me out? :(

Are you sure about that?

Lmfao

Be more careful next time? Or just get lucky, my brother's USB memory has undergone 3 washing machine trips and it still works.

Well I guess an iPod is much more complex in that sense :l Hmm. I guess you will have to buy a new one, buddy.

Just like if you did it with any other handheld, wait for it to dry out and try to dry it out with sunlight. If it doesn't work after drying then yeah, you're done.

fuck you all

Relatively ancient and inactive

Get a real ipod, noob. Well, it does have flash-based memory, so that's probably fine. If anything broken, it's the nice electronic stuff, and... yeah, dry it out and see if it works.

Screen isn't functioning as of now.

I click, you hear the click. Nothing happens. Buttons broken?

Also plugged it in. Then took it out. Now it doesn't recognize it.

The problem with an iPod is it has a non-removable internal battery... Let it dry for a few days before doing anything.

Yes, don't be stupid. We told you like 5 times already to let it dry out. Don't try to do anything right now. Wait like a week or something.

Its funny how such a simple thing as water can destroy our electronics extremely easily

Just because water is ever so slightly conductive ...
It really only destroys complicated and precise electronics. If you threw a lamp in a swimming pool it'd work just fine. ;o

My experience is honestly, a miracle. More then a miracle of yours, lol.

I had a similar experience. About a month of two after buying an iPod Nano 4th Gen a few weeks after release, I left it in my pocket of my jeans when I was washing my clothes. I had forgotten it and during the cycle, I needed to use my iPod. I couldn't find it in the house and searched frantically. I kept saying to myself "No, No, No, I better not have left it in my pocket!"

My first reaction was to see if it still worked. My irrational thinking brought on by anger unlocked the iPod even though I still saw water in the iPod. Didn't turn on, crap!

I went and told some friends about it. My friend had said his had done the same thing and he had put it in a saram wrapped cup of rice so the rice absorbs all the moisture. I did that.

Daily I kept checking if there was any change, no luck. However, I plugged my iPod into my computer and it works! However, the second I unplug it, it turns off and won't turn back on. I searched the web and kept cussing myself about the repetition of words I kept finding: "Make sure you don't try to turn on your iPod." This pissed me off because I had tried to turn it on so I was destined to fail. You'll soon figure out..

A week later, I figure I would bring my broken iPod and USB cord to school to listen to music whilst in my Computers Class. I went onto my computer in the morning to grab some new music. Oh, a new update for the iPod Nano. Why not? I'll download it from the iTunes Store. I upload my music and I press X. I'm about to unplug the cord but I expect something different. My iPod stayed on this time!!! I guess the iPod Update fixed something and now my iPod was on without a cord!!!

However, for the next few months, my iPod would ocasionally "short-out" and randomly turn off and won't turn on unless I give it a "boost" from a USB cable. I could just plug and immediately unplug to give my iPod a "boost" and it would work like new.

As of today, my iPod hasn't "shorted-out" for a few months. So just a little hope:

If you are reading this and you tried turning on your iPod after getting water damage and think you're doomed, you might not be. Hope.

I think I just got ever so fucking happy.

The washing machine probably shorted the battery (which is a bad thing for batteries). I don't see how a software update would make it work at all. Maybe it being plugged in for a long time made it charge enough to stay on.

Lol, my iPod shorts out too, but it never stops shorting out. But I just keep on trying until the motherfucker stays on, I am not going to carry the damn power cord to school (there are connections in school) :P

General rule for electronics if they get wet is to turn them off, disconnect any power sources (if possible), and then wait until they are thoroughly dried before attempting power.

ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO

It's actually just a bit of common sense if you ask me :P

But yeah, don't attempt anything just now, if you said it kinda works then you have hopes.

Also, next time when you try it (after a few days of drying out) if it doesn't recognize it again try using a different USB port than the one you connected it right now. Don't ask me why.

If your ipod gets wet, it's wet.

Just let it dry out for a month, that saved my favorite camera when it got soaked with rainwater.
