It failed.
Roughly a year ago, terrorist hackers uploaded a malicious program, dubbed the X-Virus, into the core of Xanadu, driving TRANCE insane. Virus agents began attacking travelers in Xanadu. It got worse when the virus and rouge TRANCE programs began to exit Xanadu through the Transfer Points and attacking people in the real world. Now the only hope we have is the Xanadu Defense Force, or XDF, a team of warriors charged with entering Xanadu and destroying the core, which would theoretically shut down the X-Virus and TRANCE. Of course, this won't be easy.
Code: Xanadu is a combined effort by ForTheSwarm and myself. The mod has a unique gameplay mechanic in the form of Transfer Points, which allow units to cross over to Xanadu and back. (The left side of the map represents the real world, the right half represents Xanadu.) Transfer Points may be either preplaced or built by workers.
THE XDF
The XDF are the human faction in Code: Xanadu. They are the closest to a normal RTS race. All XDF units are somewhat weaker in Xanadu than in the real world, except the Enforcer infantry. All XDF mechanical units are equipped with a Nano-Repair System which slowly recharges their HP over time. The XDF's signature unit is the Firehawk, a flying transport which can Transfer anywhere without need for a Transfer Point.
TRANCE
TRANCE is the second closest to a normal RTS race. TRANCE does not mine, but slowly gains resources over time based on the number of Substation structures they control. All TRANCE structures may only be built on Creep, which is spread by TRANCE Spires (Assimilators) and nothing else. TRANCE players must not lose their starting base, as doing so causes the player to lose the game.
TRANCE only has five units, but each TRANCE unit may be Improved in various areas (except their worker). For example, a Purifier-class bomber may become a Null Purifier, which is immune to all spells (including allied spells).
THE X-VIRUS
The X-Virus is a pretty unusual faction. They have no resources and no buildings. All X-Virus units are created by casting Spawn Broodlings on allied units, which creates two larva-esque units. Two larva units may fuse to create a Corruption (supply provider), and two Corruptions in turn may fuse to create a Replicator (the unit that casts Spawn Broodlings).
PROGRESS
The XDF faction will be finished in time for SMC4. TRANCE and the X-Virus have not been started at this point. Currently, the only big things left to do for the XDF are triggers and more precise balancing.
None.
