Co-Op Campaign Maps

I've been working on UMS maps for some time. After getting some stuff down, I figured I'd try my hand at co-op campaign maps.

I've got one that has a storyline, which can be worked with.

Two are just bullcrap ones that are meant for fun.

All of the co-op campaign maps will, naturally, be for two-three players on one team and multiple computers on the other.

First map:
Attack on the Dominion

Image:

Description: Fenix and Raynor duke it out with the Dominion. Starting with a small task force, you must destroy the enemy bases and establish ones of your own to combat the much larger threat...

Difficulty: Bordering on Insane. Three large Terran bases (one with a large expansion) and outposts placed "around" can be pretty damn tricky... especially when Purple LOVES to Siege Tank rush the Protoss player. Luckily enough, the heroes are overpowered to no end... :D

Second map:
Desert Defense

Image:

Description: A Terran / Protoss alliance has been formed to drive back the Zerg infestation on Korhal. Wipe them out.

Difficulty: Difficult. Zerg repeatedly take back their expansions, and they don't attack often. But when they do, you'd best have some pretty good defense.

- - - - - -

Third map:
Push 'em Back

Image:

Description: Protoss invaders threaten the Overmind! Destroy them, lest they use their dark energies to destroy your beloved leader!

Difficulty: While the A.I. scripts are Difficult, I'd say the actual map difficulty is set halfway between Difficult and Insane. The A.I. expands five times if you let it and one favors Arbiters while the other favors Zealot rushes... beware the Zealot rush...

- - - - - -

Let me know if I can do anything to improve these maps. I'm working on prequels and sequels, as well as replacing a lost 3-player Zerg co-op campaign map. :D

I got an error message saying...

A Staredit Network error has occured:

Help? I can't attach the third map, "Push 'em Back." That's what happens when I try to do that.

Dungeon Master

Attack: This map was the more fun of the two. The heroes were way too overpowered, and it would've been nice if both players got their units at the same time. There are a lot of annoyingly tight areas, especially around the bases. If you opened these areas up, it'd be a lot less tedious to play. It was also quite easy, despite being advertised as "insane".

Defense: There was nothing inherently wrong with this map with the exception that I was able to beat it with 24 attack-moved zealots. It was Far, far, far too easy.

The difficulty is probably due to the fact that I dreadfully suck at playing StarCraft. I know strategies, I just can't implement them correctly. :flamer:

As for the terrain in the first mission, please keep in mind that I made this ~7 months ago. Since then, I have "learned" how to terrain. :P

Thanks for the feedback at any rate. I'm working on an impossible scenarios map, which is difficult (extremely so in the later encounters) and it is coming along quite nicely. As soon as I get some screens, I'll post the thread. If anyone'd like to test, I'm on weekdays 3-5 Eastern on the account Buon (that's eastern time and the eastern gateway).

I enjoyed Attack, solo. The tight areas inside the enemy bases really forced me to micro manage my assault carefully. As Kow said, it was tedious, but I thought it was a good exercise.

However, it was too easy. Was the AI easy or medium? The worst they threw at me were 6 wraiths, uncloaked, and they didn't use lockdown when they had some really nice opportunities. If you were to make the AI more difficult, and perhaps decrease their wait to start, it would really improve the scenario.

(I also tried the Impossible scenarios. And solo, they really are impossible.)

I have thought more about Attack, and I want to change my statement on it.

I liked Attack, quite a bit.

I was expecting something a little different. I was expecting something more multi-dimensional. I guess that is why I was initially a little disappointed. The difficulty of Attack was one dimensional. The only difficulty in Attack is in commanding an effective ground based assault. But the challenge of commanding that ground based assault was engaging and interesting.

If you were to change the difficulty settings of the AIs it would make the assaults even harder, and force players to defend.

If people would actually play these maps, mebbe I'd update them!

Just kiddin'. Turns out I made this when I wasn't GOSU. ;)

Updated. Still can't post the other map; it also says I have -797460 bytes of space left. O.o

Alrighty, then. Here's some details (and the pic) of the 3-player co-op Zerg mission I was talking about.

This map is different than what I would normally do. You and 2 others are sharing bases in this 3v3 computer map, un-aptly named "Attack on the Confederacy." Rather than simply focusing on attacking, you have to also protect the first Overmind's Cocoon. Currently I have the entire intro triggered as well as a single Terran enemy, with more to come, Mr. Obvious.

It's finished! I haven't exactly tested the final version, but all I did was add a few expansions and make a Victory trigger. That and fix up the briefing a bit.

Have fun! It's attached to the OP! Give feedback and stuff please.

Updated both Attack on the Confederacy and Attack on the Dominion. Added reinforcement triggers and cleaned up dialogue.

Updated maps are located in the OP.
