Civilization IV
...and it's various expansions.

So I decided to start playing Civilization 4 again. Too lazy to explain. Let's just use these:

Minimum System Requirements

Recommended System Requirements

Supported Operating Systems

Contrast: Civ3 vs. Civ4

Civilization IV DEMO
It's also available for online download via Steam.

Is this the time to debate?

Oh, how I yearn to see someone display the leadership abilities of Nero.

It looks interesting, but I'll wait until Civ V comes out to try the series, and I don't know why I'll do that.

Also, RACISM. Three American presidents, and all Russia gets is a Czar who goes insane later on in his life. AAASDGASFGHSERTYWE

I loved Civ 4.
For a better time, if you don't mind long games, edit the tech xml file to make all techs take 2x or 3x longer turns.
Because like you research archers, and before they even get to the battlefield, the world already has tanks (over exaggeration but still basically true).

I always play on epic or marathon speeds. Otherwise your tech is outdated as soon as it gets to your opponents cities. Love BTS and playing Ramesses. Fast wonders with no anarchy. :D

Yeah, always got to take it slow in Civ. I got Civ III from my brother years back, and then only recently (past year or so) did I pick up Civ IV. Lots of fond memories from Civilization. For that matter, I just picked up Roller Coast Tycoon 3 and realized I'd forgotten how much I love that series (played the original when I was 9 or 10). If you guys like epic strategy, this and the Total War series are the two games you have to try out.

My comp sucks, so if I'm playing against the AI, make like, 12 AI on a Small world. Let the chaos ensue.

Three hours for a decent game. Never leave anyone unchecked, unless you want to be surprised by a tech war.

Well, details other than the time it takes. I'm unfamiliar with the entire series, though I generally love the SC and WCIII adaptations (and other diplolike games).

Hm, I can't personally accurately explain it. It really depends on how far you want to take it, you can micromanage everything. You start with a city and build up an empire. Each tile consists of work points, money points, and food points. You build city structures on tiles to boost whatever in your city. The number of tiles you can have affect the city relates to your population. You need food for the population, workshops to keep up with the city's advancement demands, as well as the totality of your empire, and money for everything, so you can't really have one without the others too much. Inside your city are numerous buildings that you can build up to affect culture, tech, happiness, and cleanliness, as well as unit production buildings, air fields, defenses, wonders.
You also build roads between your own cities and other civilizations for faster unit movement. As well as preserve forests for happiness and cleanliness.
Diplomacy plays a big part of the game. Trading and selling techs, giving gifts to please the ai and cease fire when they are pwning you.

Battles are basically roll the dice. You see the probability of winning. Attackers seem to have a much better advantage by getting the choice of what units attack first, maximizing flanking and cannon damage spread, though defending gets defense bonus of terrain and any entrenchments.
There's also spying and sabotage, which I don't really partake in too much.
Nukes are always funny, but too much of them degrades the world and sends in into global warming.
By game default, you can win in like 7 different ways, culture, economical, technological, conquest, some other things.

I think there's really too much to explain for a little post.

You can play against me. And if you're too lazy and decide to torrent it, we can play on Hamachi LAN. :P

Just a heads up. You probably wont get the new Civilization IV Colonization. Because it uses an upgraded Civ IV Engine.

Ah, I remember the days I used to play civ...

What I like to do is force the maximum amount of players on the smallest world size and set it to Pangea. Awesome game right there.

Which leader do you think is the best? I use Roosevelt or Bismark.

Win by luck, lose by skill.

Depends. Tech civilizations are America and Germany, because you have to get into the Industrial/Modern Era before you can do anything truly effective.
Most other civilizations are rush, or a compromise between tech and rush. Your play style I guess.

It's Civ IV with graphical improvements. You try to colonize the new world, and everyone starts off in the old during the Imperial Era.
Four players max.
Colonize, and try to gain independence from home country.
