I didn't know where this topic should've been placed, but I realized Null gets a lot of attention. So...

I'm looking for a Music Composer, but on the internet. Don't know how to describe it. Basically think of Mario Paint - a set of instruments ready to be placed on a scale and played, where I compose the track. Except, hopefully broader. Doesn't matter if its freeware, shareware, or proprietary. I just need a list of stuff.

:P :P :P :P

http://www.tuxguitar.com.ar/ is free
If you have cash, Guitar Pro 5 is awesome too.

What I'd generally suggest. The default soundkits aren't fantastic, but it's got good functionality.

Guitar Pro, from what I've heard, is only string instruments. Trying to incorporate Piano/Synthesizer and other non stringed instruments.

The sound samples for GP5 are about 6 GB, I'll let you infer from that what you will about the number of instruments in it.

Finale Notepad is good if you're good with a staff.

ModPlug Tracker perhaps, but you'll need to get some samples.

If you have lots of money, or software just magically comes into your posession, Reason is amazing.

Sony Soundforge is probably the best you can get.
You can even mix MIDI and wave tracks together.

Until I get a new computer in September, anything that eats system resources is out of the question. :(

Anvil Studio is a good, free, but especially lean MIDI sequencer, and if you don't like the Microsoft GS general midi soundset you can always use SynthFont to play it with a soundfont (unless you have a Creative sound card in which case you can just load the thing into your computer's MIDI synth without needing any additional programs).

Because software does tend to magically appear on my computer I've been toying around with the various forms of synthesizer (but mostly soundfonts) offered by FL 8, and in fact it's probably been a couple months since the last time I did anything in MIDI.
