Does anyone know of a chart that displays all the armor types (light, medium, heavy) for all the units/buildings in Starcraft?

I also need to know how the various attack types affect the various armor types.

Also, what happened to the "search" function for the forums?!

Welcome to the SEN in production.

I believe armor is: Small, Medium, Large
I believe attack is: Concussion, Normal, Explosive

All I can remember is that concussion does its best on small normal on Medium, and Explosive on large.

Concussive does full damage to small, 1/2 to medium, and 1/4 to large.

Explosive does full damage to large, 3/4 to medium, and 1/2 to small.

Normal does full damage to all unit sizes.

ghost, firebat, and vulture deal concussive damage

hydralisk, tank(both modes), dragoon, spider mine, infested terran, goliath antiair, wraith antiair, scout antiair, missile turret, sunken colony, corsair, arbiter, and devourer are explosive

the rest are normal damage.

for terran vulture is only medium unit, rest are large or small(all other mech/air is large, infantry is small).

I am not entirely sure about protoss ground zeal ht dt are either small or medium(im not sure because i remember there being a discrepancy between the sprite boundary box, and the damage calculation size. Goon is large, corsair is medium, obs small, rest of air large, and shields take full damage from any damage type weapon.

for zerg, hydra/defiler/queen is medium, mutalisk is small, rest should be obvious.

Goons are explosive? I thought they were normal...

Goons are explosive, yes. Thats why they suck vs. lings ;)

Protoss has no medium sized units. Zealots, probe and ht are small. Arbiter has explosion dmg.

If you want a table showing the info altogether and definetely correct go into your starcraft folder and open readme.hlp
Then tipps, tricks and other info -> damage types
It shows only Starcraft vanilla units.
Brooodwar units are found in the file BroodUnits.doc in the Starcraft folder.

could someone confirm the zealot's armor? I've got 2 sources outside SEN, one saying it's small and one saying it's medium

nuderaider, do you have a link or source for that?

okay so I totally didn't read the second half of your post.

that was EXACTLY what I needed nuderaider, an official blizzard source, especially one that's not online, so thanks a lot

Do you have the BroodWar and StarCraft booklet that comes with the battle chest? Because that has all their armor types.

Mabrutha,
Devourers have normal damage type + special
the special reduces armor and slows down shot frequency

Yes, I was a bit imprecise. Sorry for that.
What I wrote was referring to vanilla sc. But I also told where to find the info for the expansion pack.

You guys should go to channel Brood War USA-1 and there's a SC-Triviabot and it will ask stuff like armor types and weapons. The owner gets it all from the handbook. I've learned a lot from it. =D

For example:
Q: Weaponry of a marine.
A: 8mm c-14 "impaler" gauss rifle

Q: Armor marine.
A: CMC-300/400 powered combat suit.

It has stuff like that. It has other random questions that involve random people like Arcturus Mengsk and Norris Bailey and people like that.

Then your either absolutely wrong or it has changed with some update.
I'm too lazy to check blizz's version history. ^^

The file broodunits.doc (installed from the cd with broodwar) clearly states normal damage.

Please show your source of information so we can consider who's right.

Thats good. But also its not 100% reliable since you can't tell when he made a mistake.
Nevertheless its fun for sure ;)

Actually, probes are small, zealots and templar are medium. You can tell what the armor type is by loading the unit into a transport. Small is one slot, medium is two, large is four. Also, Zerg, don't forget that zealots attack twice, each one doing half of the total damage (so armor twice as effective against zealots).

False info.

I'm sorry, but this is wrong.
Don't mix up unit size (space it takes on the map/shuttle/air) with armor type (damage received by diffrent damage types).

We always said "unit size" but actually meant "armor type". Even Blizzard uses the term "unit size" when they actually mean "armor type". Well I guess its ok if you know about the difference.

Actually there is NO connection between the space a unit takes in a shuttle/ground/air and its armor type.
For example take Mutalisk and Wraith. They both look the same size and have same size of markers around them, but muta's armor type is small and wraith's is big.
Or take Goliath. It takes 2 shuttle slots but we all know its a big unit.

Look into blizzards references I posted above or even better: Make a test map, if you neither believe me nor the documentation.

Nevertheless I agree that in MOST cases blizzard made small units take 1, medium take 2 and large take 4 spaces of shuttle space. But it's no general rule. My guess is they made it so that a fully loaded shuttle always contains roughly the same firepower - independent from its content.
