As of today, you can restore your Battle.Net accounts by remaking them. You lose all data, but you get your name back. Neat.

~~Myth busted. For one, the (8) account banning probably is timed, because I lost mine during December-ish and I can't restore mine. It's more than likely timed.~~

Mostly it was based on hacking. Accounts were closed because third party programs were being injected. Some people that used chaos launcher or anti hacks got banned too. THe ban was mostly dangerous on D2, where they killed thousands of people.

The accounts are now deleted and available to be registered again.
