The sword and the faith

This is an amazing idea and I absolutely love it. I'd like to do The Trial Of Tassadar.

@IsolatedPurity: Terran 4 has been, already, but I think it'd work best if we augmented the difficulty on a by-feedback basis. There's also the added problem of two players on one map's resources. Though we've boosted the resources on several of the maps, it's still a little tricky.

Draco, have you since tested any of the missions in the beta pack? Lingie and myself played them last night and a LOT of them were buggy, so buggy in fact we had to fix a few of them that we really wanted to play. Also, there are a lot of little bits and pieces in each mission that need tweaking/fixing. Some of them are due to the map being 2p, others are ones blizzard did themselves. Example: In The New Dominion, the main players expansion has too much unbuildable ground around it, and would be very much improved by one or two squares of it being reduced. Also, TZ apparently has no idea how to properly place minerals. I'm not talking about melee balanced placement, I'm talking about placement that doesn't conflict with how workers mine so badly that they run all over the place mindlessly, not making fields impossible to access, not having to build your CC/Hatch/Nexus so far from your gas you need 7 workers to mine it correctly.

If the maps haven't been fixed/modified since the beta pack, I am willing to go in on them right now and fix a number of these issues with my personal promise that all bugs will be stomped and the maps will all be tested before hand.

I could care less about who's name is on what at this point, this isn't about credit, this is about a brilliant idea for an amazing project being cut off at the knees because of people being lazy. Laziness is the chief reason for half the bugs we found, I mean, any mission with a door in it couldn't be played because none of the doors worked. None. I don't understand how someone fucks up every single door. Ugh.

Get back to me ASAP please, I am not letting this project fail over laziness and bugs.

I have sattelite internet, I haven't been able to play Starcraft online in ages . I was able to play Zerg 10, so I know that one should work correctly.

Some of the mineral placement was kept from the original maps (Player 1's gas, for example, in Zerg 10 practically necessitated making another hatchery, which you should have anyway). Some doors not opening sounds like I made a heck of a mistake, when I was changing them from Toggle to Open.

Anywho, if you type up a list of the bugs, we could split them between us.

I think I suck too much to be anything besides a hinderance in this project...

And why didn't you reply when I gave you the maps like a month or two ago?

I can help now. Send me any maps you want done/fixed. :)

The sword and the faith

Lingie and myself are already hard at work correcting every map in the beta pack. I'd say we're about 70% done with the whole thing. The maps are going to be harder, but actual difficulty, not annoying difficulty by needing 10 workers to mine 1 gas placed too far.

We'll be testing them tonight and with luck they'll all be 100% awesome tomorrow.

For Terran and Protoss maps, I agree on that, however, on Zerg maps, you need more than one hatchery anyway.

Also, the unit-manager maps (Terran 4, Zerg 5, Protoss 6), and maps where the second player doesn't have a base (Zerg 2), I don't think need that big a difficulty boost, because there are still the same amount of units that would be there, in single-player.

@TassZer: I wouldn't say you suck. That system you made for Protoss 6 was quite ingenious. :D

However, I haven't gotten any maps from you since, I think, Terran 5.

@ForTheSwarm: What map would you like?

Oh fuck. How did I mess up the sending twice? I hope I can find them to send (and hope it works this time...) It might be a good idea to resend the unconverted maps in case I have to redo them...

I just got done editing Protoss 6, and oh the amount of bugs. The map is now fully playable, and the sounds are CORRECT..

TZ, I must stress that current player on just about every trigger is not a good way to go. Also, make sure you disable a door to open it, not enable.

I might as well say this though: Your work with Terran 4 looked more clean then Protoss 6. At least the first door actually worked.

EDIT: The disable doors instruction goes for you too Dracolich.

o.O? I could've sworn I did that. I even posted in UMS Assistance to make sure I got it right. Though, thanks for being so industrial about all of this. I would've been perfectly content bugfixing, myself.

Also, what do you mean by 'the right sounds'? I purposely left the main story sounds out, to keep the filesize down, but I was going to release a 'heavy' version with all of the sounds, when the mod was completely finished. I can't really upload the maps at full filesize whenever. :|

@Kevin: I converted them to Brood War .scx maps, for color-changing (Just looks better that way).

Protoss Mission 06 had a few wrong sounds selected to be played. Just a small mix up.

About the doors: It originally said "Unknown doodad state", which we left because there didn't seem to be any reason to change it. Apparently that got changed to Enable at some point without us noticing.

Anyway, it looks like Ex took my maps, so send me Protoss 1-5. Or if someone already took that, some random maps of your choosing.

Feb 13 2009, 2:46 pm Grand_dracolich Post #59

@Darkling: In that case, thanks.

@Excalibur: Sure, I'll sent those over. By the way, make sure the maps have both players as engaged as possible. Adding a few units for the second player in Protoss 8 (That aren't likely to last a huge amount of time, in that map), isn't the best idea, since he would get left with just Hyperion in fairly short order.

@TassZer: 'Unknown', apparantly, turned out to be toggle, which, with two players able to activate the same trigger, didn't work out too well. Unfortunately, I think I changed it to the wrong state. :><:

There's still Terran 6 and 7, by the way. ;)

I'll do Terran 7 (The Hammer Falls I think).

Send it to me please.
