I'd regard this as a cheat, because of the superior vision it would give to the player. Even though it's only moving the screen (and then compiling the images), it does so in such a useful way that not having to do so manually counts as an unfair advantage.

It doesn't work for any higher option than the auto-selected one. So far I do not understand the help of that programm.

I tried it and it's impossible to play. Responsiveness is horrible. I played a quick game vs a comp in single player on 1280x1024 and I quit the game after like 10 minutes simple because I was unable to select unit. It took about 2 seconds after I drew a selection box until the units were selected.

As of now, for replays maybe, but not for games. Maybe it will improve. Oh, and it was no problem having small units. Depends on your monitor of course. ;)

Looks nice.
But I can't read korean so I got no clue where to klick :><:. Can someone translate, show me a screeny where to click or just post the dl link? Sc in higher res would be soooo awesome.

I was unable to get in-game size larger (so far), but I just started this today.





The BIN dialogs and backgrounds all had to be modified because of Starcraft's NATIVE 1024x768 resolution. :)

you can toggle the check on the screen (that's an ad activeX shit) and click the play button (triangle)
im afraid that im korean so you may not understand my word.

or.. u mean that u was able to play the video but not able to dl it?
i meaned that the creator didnt offer a dl so u cant dl it. (so far)

I can't upload what isn't finished.

In-game high res is slowly coming to life. (by slowly, I mean minutes, maybe hours, not days)

I found out that the actual game resolution is 672x448, with a buffer of 0x49800. 32 pixels extra for the X and 48 pixels extra for the Y. (Starcraft's "playable" screen is 640x400, because of the HUD)

Heinermann, that's very impressive! I'm curious how you might avoid the pitfalls of McBane's solution.

What would be super-sweet: The ability to incorporate high-res into mods (no complaints about fairness because everyone would have it). I would totally put it in for STF.

Years ago, I was working with DarkWizzard to remodel the entire HUD around. During that time, we found exactly what you are talking about -- if you remove the HUD entirely, there is actually a strip of black that cannot display anything in-game.

That's actually fairly easy, and we also adjusted the location of the portrait. It's possible to even flip the entire menu in a mirror effect, or even put the buttons all in a line across the center.

Boo. I'm not skilled enough to get in-game working with a full resolution.
There are way too many constants to change.

640x480
672x448
640x400
their buffer sizes
divide each value by 32 for number of megatiles on screen
divide each value by 8 for number of minitiles on screen
640*32 for next megatile row position
640*8 for next minitile row position
unit/sprite/images drawing size unknown
many other constants

I will still try in my spare time though, when I feel like it. :P
I'll end up probably just releasing the game menu size hack.
