👻 👾 👽 💪

Use your fireball and touch civilians, buildings, and trees to burn them! Great fun to play against a friend!

1-6 Players

You could have spent some more time on this map...

Maybe added some special attacks and better special effects.

Well if you look at it that way then I should've actually done it right. Terrain was done in like 30 seconds, the start you see all sorts of crap that makes it ugly, only archons and dark archons have names, and everything is just arbitrarily placed around. That doesn't mean it can't be fun. xD
Random maps are not meant to impress. They are meant to be fun (which, in my opinion, this map succeeds in doing.)

Fixed. I used a DT wall and it gave two of the DTs. Nonspecific unit (i.e. using 'men' instead of two actions) triggering, ftl.

Random maps are not meant to impress. They are meant to be fun (which, in my opinion, this map succeeds in doing.)

I don't enjoy maps that take 30 seconds to beat. You had a fun concept that you half-assed the rest of the way. If you would have taken the concept of racing to destroy buildings and actually put some effort into gameplay, this could have been a great and fun public map. It is fairly obvious that you made this as a quick project, but it could have been something more. I was disappointed that you came up with a good idea, and just didn't follow through is all.

I'm only trying to give you incentive to put more effort into things.

You forget, this is SEN.

I would like to note that someone else was making a map like this a few days before you released this, very odd.

The concept of the map was fireballs burning buildings. I'm not all that interested in crazy systems of casting excessively triggered explosions and screen repositioning. Sorry if it doesn't meet any sort of unset expectations.
Gameplay != special effects. I don't know if you are trying to imply otherwise, but that is what I am understanding.
The concept wasn't racing to destroy buildings, that was the byproduct. The concept was to simply burn things (as the name suggests.) I saw the faceless archons and they reminded me of fireballs, so I made a map that used them as such. This map was for amusement, not to impress. Were I trying to impress anybody, I would have put more effort in to it.

I put effort where effort is due. And in a little map made for my amusement, effort is not due. I'm not going to slave over StarEdit for twenty hours just to impress some (U)-person to think my map is more than 1/10 rating. This is the kind of result I was aiming for (as I said, it was purely for amusement):

And as shown by this being an actual quote, that is what I got. Therefore, in the perspective of my goals I was successful.

You forget, SEN isn't (U) and doesn't have to meet some sort of astronomical standard for quality as a baseline.

How does someone make a map a few days prior when the central concept (in this case faceless archons) has hardly even been around that long?

I understand the concept i was simply telling you that you should take it a step further. Apparently you're being a tad bit defensive, instead use it as motivation to make it better. You posted it on a forum for a community of MAPMAKERS to see it, what do you expect. I look at maps from a map making perspective because i'm a map-maker. Not because i think i am better than anyone, i just thought you should read an honest opinion. Take some constructive criticism, jesus. I'm sorry i don't clean things up and make you feel better about your capabilities as a map maker but your under-achieving. rofl

EDIT: and for someone who doesn't want to impress a (U) member you sure gave everyone the assumption you would like to be, don't you recall that thread where you talked about it? Now your just making yourself look foolish lol.

No, I'm saying it was for amusement. It is not meant for high gameplay value or even replay value. It is intended to have a quick laugh, and then move on with our lives. A serious map (as this is not) should definitely have higher expectations as it has a more rounded and general goal.
If I had any desire to take this further, I would have. I find joy in these simple maps rather than the huge maps that take months to prepare.

I specifically stated (U) wasn't a clan I had interest in joining. Also in the times I was talking about I was a lot more concerned about mapping. I stated in that topic I was being nostalgic, not that those feelings still applied. And since when was I trying--or not trying--to impress any one person (specifically, you or a (U) member)?

Well not to be off the subject of this map but, you should get on and come to op sen and show me a map you actually did put some dedication into. I wasn't trying to dismiss your criticisms, I was stating that in this particular map I wasn't trying to achieve anything more than I did, so any extra work wouldn't have built anything more toward my goal and thus be unnecessary. (I apologize if I created any hard feelings... I just get moody or something... Plus I'm tired and grumpy.)
Honestly, though, I don't have many maps and most are simple (mainly concept) maps. I have no real desire to achieve any great maps, but if you have any true desire to see some I have a few posted here and at the static maplantis link. But if you do look, keep in mind I make maps to achieve some person goal or for my own uses.

Yeah t-virus haven't you ever played maps like Spin the Bottle or Hot potato? They'res nothing in them that complicated, they are just meant for a laugh like this map is.
