This seems to be an interesting concept. I'm glad to see your thinking outside of the box and i hope it turns out well. I really don't have much more of a comment then that because i see that at this time you don't have a lot of detail on the actual storyline. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

Started on spells ideas, anyone with cool spell ideas that can somehow relate to metal: let me know =)

Also, I want to have a skill for Hair Metal called 'Ballad' but I need an effect to go with it.

The concepts are neat, but the extended terrain isn't really extended. Its just a blocky hell. Sorry. :(

On another note; you do not require a pick to play the guitar, but you don't gain exp? I fail to see how that works. :><:

The gods of metal will strike anyone who attempts to finger-pick for EXP down to the ground. Mitch knows this, so he doesn't try to gain exp when he loses his pick because he values his life. Any other questions?

It would be nice to know when the demo ends, so we don't waste time looking for the next part when it's not there.

I just played the Demo and here are my thoughts

First the positives:

1. The concept is awesome! Being a rabid metal fan and guitar player myself I was excited to see A Heavy Metal based rpg. And man breaking strings and losing Picks sure does suck.

2.The Gameplay seems good so far, the spell names are great, and the combat seems simple but fun.

3.Also Im glad to see an rpg with an actual storyline that looks like at least some effort was put into it. I'll be looking forward to finding out what happened to Mitch (and boning Rachael teehee ^^)

The Negatives.:

1.10 hours of gameplay? I honestly dont see myself playing this map for 10 hours or any Starcraft map for that matter. Hell, Labryinthos is only 5 hours or whatever and that map makes me want to dive into a volcano of Donkey sperm. I guess it's your choice but I'd advise against making an rpg that long.

2. I know its probably just the demo but where are the Metal Sound effects? I wanna hear some power chords and Shredding! If you need some recordings I'd be glad to record some Shred and guitar sounds for ya ;D

So far, so good and Im looking forward to playing it I just hope its not super long.

lrn2saveprogress :P

Seriously, I wouldn't care if you had a 10 hour long map, simply because you can save your progress. That's where single player > multiplayer: You can do really long maps.

A message appears when the demo is complete and you will end in victory.

@Mephisto I would love to add metal sound effects, but that Is the last thing of concern because sound effects will mean nothing without a complete map to go with them. I will hit you up for some recordings for sure tho =)

Thank you for the positive feedback.

Norm, I suggest you to use hyper triggers as it will probably be vital to your spell effects and other things, but you may have to re-trigger some things.

Thank you for this advice; however, I am already using Hyper triggers. If you see a delay, it is a Wait intentionally put in. Sorry if these annoy you.

Some of the delays are excessive. When I talked to the blacksmith, the first part of the conversation showed, and then nothing else, so I went to talk to Jerry and the rest of the blacksmith conversation (where he asks you to find his hammer) only displayed when I was at Jerry.

Hey I just played this as well.

First of all, the wraith spell bugged... and resulted in me getting a wraith that could fly around and kill stuff. So I ended up massing wraiths at one point and cleared the map because I couldn't figure out what next to do.

Having absolutely no direction after the second time you talk to the zealot (forget his name), where he's like, "oh I actually don't have another quest for you... just explore the town." At which point I'm like, huh? I checked everywhere and although the blacksmith mentioned his hammer being missing I didn't associate that with a quest and I couldn't figure out how to progress further. Eventually got bored and gave up.

Since it's a single player rpg, as far as I can tell, I think you really need to get some music or sound effects in here as well.

Also, some explanation of the item system earlier on would help... it took me a while to connect that a "templar" was "item slot number 4".

Yeah, I don't know why, but I can easily see Jack Black being the main character in this. >.>

Good luck, though. This map looks fun!
