Yeah, it seems that GeCube took the liberty into making an AGP version, so it's not a reference model. So yeah, I didn't think you'd find it.

The x1950pro is awesome, though.

If I was looking to do total update Death, what would ya say is good to get?

Just so I have kinda an idea about stuff.. So can get a enough guess on costing. I'll check local dealer and see pricing and stuff..

It would be a lot easier for both of us if you had some sort of price range set up. Also, I'm not sure what parts you want to keep, and what parts you want to replace. I'm not sure what you currently have, too.

Also, I will look for the best online Australlian dealer. ^^

But in about 10 minutes, I have to go to practice for Cross Country, so that'll have to wait.

5k AUS? I would personally buy a crappy 7600 GT or whatever the AGP equivalent is and wait a few months for NVidia's G92 and AMD's Phenom processor to come out. By all accounts so far, AMD's Phenom looks to be to Intel's Core architecture as Core was to Athlon64. Also, the G92 is reputedly 2.5-3x as powerful as the 8800GTX/Ultra. Expect to pay $1500 US for the motherboard/cpu/graphics to last you sufficiently for a few years. Besides, the G92 is going to be DirectX 10.1 compliant, meaning 4x antialiasing is enabled by default (though the G92 will easily be able to churn out higher levels in all programs), along with some other changes that I outlined in the SEN V5 Closed "Beta" or whatever it was called forum. DDR3 should also be a viable choice for memory at that point, although you'd probably be able to purchase DDR2 for a small bit less. I'd personally go with 2x 2 Gb sticks of DDR3 with a possibility to add in another 2x 2 Gb sticks later if needed (new games are looking to be very memory intensive: for example, Supreme Commander can easily suck up 2.5 Gb of memory itself on the largest maps). However, I am really glad to see DirectX 10 being utilized properly now. Bioshock looks beautiful on an 8800GTX @ 1920x1200 with settings at max. The fiasco that was Company of Heroes Patch 1.7 for DirectX 10 upgrades seems to be the exception, not the norm as I had feared it might become.

Not everyone has 1500 to spend on some ridiculously awesome computer whenever they want. Hell, I'm trying to scrap $50 for 1 GB of G-Skill RAM, unless someone can reccomend something better for >$50.

2k to 5k is Australlian.. right?

Honestly, I'm clueless with Australlian and stuff, so I'll give this a try.

First, I say you get a Q6600 now, and if you need to later, you can upgrade granted that the motherboard will support 45nm processors.
For a motherboard, Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
Videocard, I would either get an 8800gtx now or wait out the G92.. but not sure how long you're going to wait for that, so I say stick with the 8800gtx for now.. and personally, I don't heavilly weigh claims that say like "product x is gonna be 34939293 times faster than product x".. they usually aren't the most reliable claims.
Memory.. Hrmm.. the problem is, if you get 4gb, you have to use a 64 bit operating system, and to be totally honest, I'm not sure how well they run with certain games, although I think support for them is better. So let's go with 2x2gb.. the only pair on Altech was a pair of Corsairs (which I don't really like, they use PROMOS chips if I remember correctly.) Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 4GB (2x XMS2 2GB) PC-6400 (800MHz) DDR2 RAM - I don't think buying DDR3 is worth it now, or will it ever have a substantial performance gain over DDR2, so there really isn't anything wrong with buying DDR2 while it's cheap.
Harddrive is a personal question. I know some people who could use up 160gbs in a week, others who would never reach half of that, so whatever fits into your budget works. I recommend either Seagate Caviars or Samsung Spinpoints. Also, if you are interested and have extra money and aren't interested in RAID, then buying a 10k Raptor could be an option. Make sure your harddrives are SATA2.
Powersupply, get the Corsair HX520. Awesome PSU, modular, quiet, stable, high efficiency... etc.
Case, your preference. Personally, from that site, I would get the Antec P182.
DVD player, assuming you don't already have one.. just get any SATA2 one I guess.. I couldn't find them on the site.
Heatsink.. get an Ultima-90..
Sound card, I guess you could get...X-Fi XtremeGamer.. if you want..

That leaves speakers, keyboard, mouse, monitor.. if you need any of those..

I didn't add up the prices or anything though, just a rough estimate.. I could be way off considering I've never shopped at that place before.

Maybe I simply misunderstood?

I would probably get Vista Home Premium 64-bit as it's $115 compared to $200, although some of Ultimate's features might appeal to you, and for a $5k rig, why not? The main problem with a 64-bit OS is that I believe it is unable to run 16-bit programs, although it can run (usually) 32-bit programs just fine. In fact, I think even XP has a very hard time running 16-bit applications, at least from a quick Google search. For new games in Vista, I've had very easy times with Lord of the Rings Online and especially Bioshock, and I'm sure Crysis will be even better. Don't get the Q6600. It might be the cheapest quad core cpu right now, but dual cores like the E6750 actually beat it performance wise in games.

Personally, I have to emphasize at least waiting for AMD's Phenom to roll around.
The G92 is going to have an excess of 1 TFlops of floating point performance, 3x that of the 8800 GTX. Combined with faster and more GDDR4, support for DirectX 10.1, and improved shaders (not sure if it'll have more, which would be awesome), the G92 looks awesome on paper.
DDR3 has much greater bandwidth than DDR2 (theoretically twice as much), but slightly higher latencies. I'd say average CAS latency for DDR2 800 is 4.5 and DDR3 1300 is 7. DDR3 is expected to surpass speeds of DDR3 2000 on extreme models, so keep that in mind.
For a hard drive(s), SATA 3.0 GB/sec is the standard to go with. I saw 750 Gb hard drives for "only" $200 on Newegg, and they'll probably go down in price even from that. I got my 320 Gb hard drives for $90 each, so the price seems to scale properly with hard drive capacity.

Thanks for that death. Pricing at that site isn't 100% for me. Because I can get at price store buy it and not customer pricing somewhat little cheaper for me =) I'll check out half stuff. Then Get pricing off friend.

I'll also check when G92 is coming out.

Also thank you for your feedback to Felagund =)

Well ducky do you have a job? I do so..

The thing about DDR2 vs DDR3, is that personally I don't think there is that much performance to be gained in things like memory timings and frequencies, and DDR2 is cheaper at the moment, so I say stick with it. I also don't think using DDR2 will bottleneck anything either. But maybe.

Yeah, the G92 does sound awesome on paper, but a lot of other products do too :\ But yeah, if you could wait for the G92, go for it.. By the time the G92 is out, you'll have another reason to wait, and end up always having to wait.

I considered that Moogle probably wont be overclocking, so I figured he should get a Q6600, as he probably wouldn't get it that far anyway, and for the price, it offers more than an e6750 does at stock, I think. Games are starting to take advantage of Quad Core from what I hear too, such as Supreme Commander and apparently Crysis.

@Moogle: If by job you mean wait around for birthday money, then yes I do. If I'm lucky though, the new neighbors will be too lazy to mow their own lawn, and I'll actually get a job.

Understanding Ducky.

And death no, I won't be overclocking since I don't like to do that. Unless the CPU is 3 to 4 years old then I overclock it =/

Can you wait until November/Early December to build an entirely new rig? I'd suggest an 8600 GT right now to sate your gaming appetite (it'll give decent performance on today's games for like $100). G92 is likely to be a $600 card. You could buy an 8800 GTX now, but G92 is going to be a lot more powerful, at least on paper. Same for AMD's Phenom - rumor is going around that the Phenom will actually pretty well outperform Intel's next generation of processors that haven't even been released yet.

For a right now build, any stable motherboard will really do because you're not doing overclocking. I'd personally advise an 8800 Ultra because it gives like another 10% performance over the GTX, although it won't have anything on the G92 core.

Ewww.. G98 (which is going to be the high end version) wont be out till later than that... Personally, I wouldn't wanna wait for it, I would go for the 8800gtx if I were pressed with the decision of buying now or waiting x amount of months for a video card. :\ It's up to you.

I'd get an Intel E6750, GeForce 8800 GTX, and 2 Gb of Ram for XP or 3+ for Vista
That's considering a build right now. No point in wasting your money for the really high end things when in a few months you could get them for half the price that they are now. That means no Q6700, Ultra, etc. I'd also spend a nice amount of money on the screen. My 28" Hanns G screen was $700 about a month ago.
