The reason I'm asking is because I just made the switch and I'm curious who else uses it.
For those of you Dvorak nubsAlso, if anyone uses it, does anyone know of a good way to cope with Qwerty withdrawals?
None.
I learned something new.
I'm also a little pissed that we use qwerty over dorvak after reading this. the government should do something.
I use QWERTY because I don't touch-type anyway and it would be too much of a pain to switch back and forth when I use computers that are in QWERTY.
You don't touch type? Coming from a person like you that surprises me.
None.
ALL PRAISE YOUR SUPREME LORD CORBO
I tried Dvorak once and obviously since I am not used to it I pretty much couldn't do anything. (I had it for less than a day really)
fuck you all

I didn't learn how when I was youngInteresting. More insight into DTBK's age.
I do the journalist thing, with 3 or 4 fingers doing most of the work. Most of my touch-typing friends are amazed at how fast I can type without touch-typing
I am nowhere near as fast as crazy typists, but I get by just fine.
When I learned to type in my middle school computer class it was just boring repetition until it was drilled into your head. I remember my teacher's annoying voice saying a a a space a a a space a a a space over and over again. With the proper hand position stressing the use of the same finger for the same keys I don't see it as too hard to learn with enough repetition.

DTBK is the main example of
why people would and will not learn Dvorak.

Haha I'm considering switching, but I only have about 6 more months until my mission so it might be a waste since I won't be able to touch a computer for 2 years lol. But ya Dvorak is tight. My friend actually showed me a bit ago and he says some typists go about 300 wpm.
wow 1-10 in the polls lol.

Qwerty on my computer and cell phone.
It's just easier.

How do you NOT touch type? Hell, I can touch type some Russian, and I don't use it at all... Awfully slow touch typing with many mistakes, though
.
I type fast enough that I don't think that switching over to Dvorak would change anything. Seriously, I'm a beast.

Touch typing is defined as typing without looking at your keyboard, using muscle memory. Thus, if you don't look at your keyboard, it's touch typing.

Few people use their thumbs and pinkies as often as the middle three fingers. I use them, but not a lot. Thumb almost never, right pinky for.. delete, enter, and left pinky exclusively for a. I think.
None.
I can see how the layout makes sense, since the most used letters are in an area where they are easily reachable, but since I already type around 65 words a minute on a qwerty keyboard, I don't feel a need to switch to another one

You never capitalize anything?? How to do question marks w/o using both pinkies?

I type 80 and I'm still considering switching. My friend that switched is already back up to 75 in about 3 weeks.
