It's really a back and forth war which unprotection is currently winning and will continue to win.
Not if Legacy is murdered.

Unused just updated his unprotector to 1.3

What does that unprotector have that OS Map doesn't?

Why don't you guys go make a map or something. *cough*

I use a protector were if you attempt to open the map with Starforge or SCMDraft the program will just crash or go unresponsive, this is after unprotecting it with OSMap 2 along with four other unprotectors I used to test it.

Not to be off-topic Within but if LW gets a hold of that map i dont think your protection will last long.
Hmm, Interesting, looks like the war is back and this time protection has the high ground.

Yeah, that makes no sense.

Assuming you didn't make that up, Ex is right. If LW finds what is corrupted in the map he can update OSMAP np. Which is why its virtually impossible to protect a map because you can only break it so far before it becomes useless in starcraft and anything that is less than that can be fixed one way or another.

Have you tested the latest version of OS Map 2?

This topic should be closed. It has strayed too far from its original purpose. Good job guys.

More importantly, enough intelligent posts have been made on the matter that the "people in charge" should be able to make a decision now. Rather don't host OSMap (pointless, but who cares), or do (makes more sense to me), either way is fine; just make everything is equal, maintain author's intentions etc.. One more thing though, if you decide not to host OSMap, I don't think that means you shouldn't host protection, like some others are trying to say.

Dapperdan your "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" logic is depressing. If you can't beat them, die trying.

Yea. Even if a new protection comes out it's only a matter of time, usually a day or two once LW gets a copy of a map, before he can update OSMAP. Even if it takes him a long time to figure it out it's not like every single map ever made will be suddenly updated with the protection. The new protection would only be able to protect an extremely small handful of maps that will be made after it came out.
Protection once cracked is completely useless, but even if an unprotection method is beaten it's still useful.

Lol, most people here don't even map.
Except for maybe you, devilesk, Mp, and I'm too lazy to think of any others.
I'm in the middle of making one.

I wonder why so many people give a damn anymore. The StarCraft scene is nothing like it was two years ago. People have the capabilities to steal your maps, and hopefully some protection will come along for SC2 that will be complex enough that normal people won't be able to figure out how to bypass it (or maybe Blizzard will even include built-in protection /dream). For now though, stop worrying about unprotection. Most of you won't even make maps worth stealing. /The Sad Truth

I say that all the time. No one bothers to listen. I hope they listen to you guys.

Well, theres programs out there that change the settings of the map when opened with other editors/unprotectors, causing the map to be altered from its original state.
Just tested it, attempted to open with OSMap 2 and you can't save because a scenario.chk file doesn't exist :]
